New Bhagavata Purana Course Launches

Bhagavata Purana Online Course
March 13 2024

We are delighted to announce the launch our newest course Bhagavata Purana: Sacred Text and Living Tradition.

A vibrant example of living literature, the Bhagavata Purana (also known as Srimad Bhagavatam) is a hugely popular Hindu sacred text written in Sanskrit verse. It has inspired major north Indian bhakti traditions as well as schools of dance and drama, and continues to permeate popular Hindu art and ritual in India and the diaspora.

This course is unique among our offerings for three reasons:

  1. It is the first course we have produced that uses an already available text – Bhagavata Purana: Sacred Text and Living Tradition. And students will receive an electronic copy of the book.
  2. It is the first course produced by two eminent scholars (our other courses are solo offers) – Prof. Ravi Gupta and Dr Kenneth Valpey who are also two of the OCHS’s earliest doctoral recipients.
  3. The first instance of the course will be tutored by Prof. Gupta and Dr Valpey. This may be the only opportunity to study this course directly with the authors.
