Enrolments are now open for our newest Online Weekend School – The Guru in Hindu Traditions.
The word “guru” is thrown around a lot, often ironically, sometimes for comic effect.
This makes it the type of misunderstood topic that our tutors aim to make sense of – historically, in current usage, and in a way that may make it relevant to daily life and practice.
As with so much in Hinduism, “guru” means a lot of different things to different traditions. He/she/it/they can be understood as divine, semi-divine, wholly human, or even non-human.
We have Dr Sutton and a team of scholars to help understand:
- Is the guru divine?
- Can I have more than one guru?
- What forms can a guru take?
- What do the texts say?
- Is there a role for gurus in daily life?
The weekend school will take place on 3–4 September 2022.
Many OCHS Weekend Schools can be accessed after the event as a Lecture Series.
